As you know, Internet Marketing offers nearly limitless opportunities to provide an extra income, by accessing the power of the Internet. With access to the masses now online, you have the tremendous potential to reach a large audience with your products and promotions. But, the question is, how do you begin to tap into the power of this resource, the World Wide Web? If you try the usual PPC (pay-per-click) route, you could actually lose money. Although popular, it can be expensive. If you get it wrong, the result can be a very large loss, very early on, and the traffic can dry up as soon as your investment does. This is where article marketing comes in. Why is it so popular? Well, basically, it is a free way to reach your prospects very quickly, bringing long-term traffic and bringing it on a daily basis to your website.
So what exactly is article marketing? To put it simply, it is the art of writing free articles that point the reader back to your website or product offer. When you write articles like this, they are submitted to article various directories all over the internet. But, it does not stop there. From there they can be used by other people to add content to their websites. How does that benefit you? You give the articles away, with the strict condition that your signature file remains unaltered. This is your ‘author bio box.’ And, this is why article marketing is so neat. A few well spent minutes of your time can yield months and months of results, even years!
So now, let us look at the basics of article marketing. An article is usually about one page of text (if you are using MS Word with normal font size, etc). Good articles normally contain between 400 to 700 words, and must be informative, helpful for your target audience or niche. You can find various free or paid word count programs on the internet. My favorite free one is: Here’s how it works:- you paste the text of your article into the box, then click “Calculate Words”, and straight away it tells you how many words you have in your article. And here is something really neat, you can copy the code from this site and paste it onto your own website. Remember, it’s completely free.
A very good tip when writing your own articles is, stick to topics you know well and enjoy writing about. Or else, find an article very similar to the one you would want to write, read it a few times and rewrite it entirely using your own words. Another thing you can do is get some ideas from several different articles, and then combine these into a new article all your own. Another way to get articles is to buy PLR (private label rights) articles, use them on your site as you buy or obtain them, or you can alter them and submit them to the article sites. Be warned, you must change them enough to be unrecognisable from the original articles, or you will be flagged for having duplicate content. Then, the whole purpose of the article will be lost. Not a good idea.
Now you need to get your articles circulating on the internet. The most important sites available are e-Zine Articles, Go Articles and Article Dashboard. You can get them here: http://ezinearticles.com, http://goarticles.com, and http://articledashboard.com. These three, in my opinion, have the most users and therefore have the most influence on Google. The great thing is, they are all have free registration and then you can submit your articles. But, be sure to follow their rules (especially e-Zine Articles), that way, you keep yourself from getting your articles rejected, or even your account suspended.
Finally, do make sure you create a good bio box. That is, one that will draw readers to your site. If you mess this up, you are wasting your time. With your author bio, you should give a little information about yourself and give the reader a good incentive to visit your site. This is how you get traffic. You will be amazed at the amount of traffic good articles can generate. Prepare to be blown away! Write good, useful and helpful articles, and you will find the e-zines and other websites starting to publish your articles. This will bring you more traffic.
So, now you know enough to get started. Don’t put it off. Begin today, right now. Write your first article (its always the hardest), get that traffic flowing and get good at writing articles! You will not regret it.
